day w nana

matt and i worked today, and so riley got a saturday w nana. and what a day! nana took riley to the park. they ate delicious messy fruit. the practiced making animal noises. riley fell asleep early tonight!

new car

here it is: our family's first brand new car. it's a honda crv, the closest thing to a minivan that matt would allow at this stage in our lives. i suppose w the cost of gasoline (not to mention the fact that we're already environmental terrorists), it's a good compromise.

don't worry. we're still driving the honda accord, and we will for as long as it runs. it's at 145,000 miles now. i'm hoping for another 5 years w it.

no more monkeys jumping on the bed!

riley has taken to jumping in her crib. i'm positive that she's going to climb out at some point soon, but we are nowhere near ready for a toddler bed . . . can you imagine riley free to roam the house in the night if she so desires???? matt and i are HEAVY sleepers (unless you place a pager under our pillows); who knows what riley could destroy in the time it takes for one of us to stir?

she is such a big girl now. it wasn't that long ago that she could barely see over the railing . . .

this is riley's 2nd ice cream cone. it wasn't a success. we'll try chocolate next time.

colt state park

today we visited colt state park. what a beautiful day! riley found a dozen new ways to scare me: slipping on the rocks, running into moving bikes, trying to jump into a ditch, rolling down a hill, and chasing an already harried dog . . . it was a good day for a toddler!

memorial day bbq

we had a small bbq this weekend, and riley made lots of friends. unfortunately i didn't take enough pictures bc i was busy running after riley, explaining to her the merits of sharing toys instead of grabbing and screaming.

nana kathy tried to get riley to pick up the earthworm. riley refused; she doesn't like getting dirty.

Happy Mothers' Day

we had a busy day today--some of us went to brunch, some had book club, some golfed, some went to the park w nana. overall, it was a great day for everyone. and it was my 2nd mothers' day! yikes!

special guests

cousin kelly (and her parents) came to visit this weekend. they had a great time! riley idolizes kelly--following her around, copying her every move. she even let kelly wash her hair!
